SOLVE A SPECIFIC CHALLENGE

Workday Financial Reconciliation Differences

A balanced total is a starting point. It does not prove that records, dimensions and accounting periods are correct.

Recognize the symptoms

  • Source and target totals match while departmental reports differ
  • Missing, duplicated or late-arriving transactions
  • Unexplained differences between accepted records and posted accounting

Our diagnostic approach

  1. Define the grain and cut-off at each comparison point.
  2. Compare record counts and stable event identifiers before comparing aggregated amounts.
  3. Reconcile amounts by business dimensions such as company, account, currency and worktag.
  4. Separate timing differences from missing records, duplicates, sign errors and mapping issues.
  5. Retain evidence of exceptions, explanations and accountable sign-off.

Illustrative example

Two synthetic events of equal value can be assigned to the wrong departments and still produce a balanced grand total. Comparing by department exposes a difference that a total-only control misses.

This is a synthetic example, not a client case study. Causes and remedies depend on your configuration and evidence.

What a useful outcome looks like

A documented explanation of the issue, a prioritized action list, defined ownership and acceptance evidence your team can review. Implementation changes are separately scoped when needed.
